Former US President Bill Clinton has canceled his planned visit to Nigeria for fear that it could become politicized. Clinton was scheduled to visit Nigeria in order to talk to the presidential candidates this week. Kofi Annan Foundation and the National Peace Committee (NPC) facilitated the visit. Clinton who was asked to give a presentation at a ceremony to sign a political settlement by the presidential candidates.
Clinton's speaker, Angel UreƱa, said in a statement that he would talk to President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar later this week instead of coming. "Over the last few days and after various conversations with the various stakeholders, it has become apparent that President Clinton's visit to Nigeria has the potential to be politicized in an obvious way.
