'We Don’t Have N50bn says Govt to ASUU

The gathering between the Nigerian government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finished in a stop once more. The two sides were in a crisis meeting prior on Friday in Abuja. 

Chris Ngige, Minister for Labor and Employment, said the Nigerian government had fulfilled the needs of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) midway. 

He said this while tending to newsmen after the gathering between the striking instructors and delegates of the Nigerian government in Abuja. 

On the topic of whether the legislature had fulfilled ASUU's need for N50billion, he stated: "We have met it midway. We have offered what we have; we don't have N50 billion. The Minister of Finance has likewise said as much, that the Federal Government can't manage the cost of N50billion now." 

On his part, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, the ASUU National President, said the gathering gained some ground, and they would show the administration's offer to individuals and give input to the government at its next gathering. 

He likewise declined to give subtleties of the offer given by the government to the association. 

He stated: "We exhibited the input from individuals on the past talks with the Federal Government and we have another arrangement of data for our individuals, and until we give them, we are not going to talk about it." 

The following gathering between the association and the legislature is planned for next Thursday.
