The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has emphasized that the position of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates for the State of Rivers has not changed. An Appeal Court had ruled a stay of execution on a prior judgment by a Federal High Court, banning INEC from posting APC applicants in the races in Rivers.
In any case, Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner responsible for Voter Education and Publicity, who addressed journalists on Wednesday, said the commission had taken its position and nothing has changed.
"We have taken a choice identifying with the issue of Rivers and on the off chance that anything changes before we take our official conclusion, the commission will meet and furthermore take a choice; however we have not taken some other choice and we have not revoked our situation on the issue of Rivers," he said.
In his comments on the fire consumed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Abia State, he said he anticipated that Nigerians should express more concern.
He, be that as it may, said the commission would not be scared by the "wanton demonstration'', but rather would concentrate on making the best choice.
