The Government of Nigeria has declared that it will start demolishing illegal tertiary institutions throughout the country. At a press briefing in Abuja, Adamu Adamu, the country's Minister of Education, said that the institutions constitute a threat to the country 's education system. The government had previously ordered the closure of 134 higher institutions, which were said to operate without proper certification.
" In order to deal with the threat, Nigerians should help to expose these higher institutions when they are found. We will demolish such institutions, where necessary, "he said. Some of the institutions mentioned above are: University of Accounting and Management Studies; University of Industry, Yaba, Lagos; University of Blacksmith, Awka; University of Atlanta, Anyigba; University of UNESCO;
including Columbus University, UK, London External Studies; Pebbies University, UK; Tiu International University, UK; Adonai Polytechnic, Benue; Kaduna State Al- Ameen College of Health Sciences and Technology; Assam School of Basic Health Science and Technology, Kaduna; Bethel Polytechnic, Benue State and Grand Royal College of Health Technology, Ekiti State.
